seringat beacon

what. beacon seen (07 October 2018)

where. Off Seringat, Lazarus Island, Singapore

remarks. A beacon located just off the northern coast of Seringat, Lazarus Island. Through land reclamation and construction of causeways, the former islands of Lazarus Island, Seringat Island, Pulau Seringat Kechil, and St. John's Island as well as the sandbank of Kias have been merged into a singular landmass. The photograph was taken onboard a ship travelling in a north-east-south direction, from the pier on St. John's Island to that on Kusu Island.

note. Malay for lighthouse: rumah api; Mandarin Chinese for lighthouse: 灯塔 (simplified script; dēngtǎ), 燈塔 (traditional script; dēngtǎ); Tamil for lighthouse: கலங்கரை விளக்கம் (kalaṅkarai viḷakkam)
